Pioneer Day on the Mountain

Explore Your Heritage at Pioneer Day on the Mountain!

piggylg (8K) In the twenty-six years since the first Pioneer Day on the Mountain kicked off, this annual heritage festival has grown into a Cumberland County tradition. Odds are, you may remember when butter was churned and when soap making and weaving were not only mountain skills but a way of life. Today, most of us can only imagine what those times were like. That's the appeal and attraction of Pioneer Day -- it gives us an opportunity to experience "the good old days" up close and personal.

This year's mix of heritage demonstrators, non-stop entertainment, traditional and contemporary crafters, and good eats promises to be the best yet. Learn how goat soap is made, how to spin rabbit hair, and discover life as a camp follower during the Civil War - all at Pioneer Day! Come take a walk back in time on Saturday, September 19th at the 25th Annual Pioneer Day on the Mountain Heritage Festival at the Cumberland County Fairgrounds. Gates are open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

To participate in this year's Pioneer Day as either a vendor or Musicfest competitor, the following forms are available for download:

Become A Pioneer Day Sponsor

Cumberland County's 60+ population needs your help, and a great way to show your support is to become a Pioneer Day sponsor. Fair Park Senior Center is not a club -- it is a service organization. We receive a small portion of our funds from county, city, state, and federal sources, but the rest of the "match" money needed to operate must be raised through fundraisers, sponsors, grants, etc. Pioneer Day is our MAJOR fundraiser and is vital in continuing to provide quality services to area seniors.

The cost of a Pioneer Day sponsorship is only $200.00! For this amount, you will be advertised in our Pioneer Day brochures, plus you will also be eligible to set up and publicize your business at Pioneer Day itself. Since Fair Park is a 501(c)3tax-exempt facility, your sponsorship is also tax deductible!

Pioneer Day is a great way to support area seniors and reach potential customers in our community and beyond. If you would like to show your support for the senior community, please consider becoming a Pioneer Day sponsor. We ask that you remit your sponsorship donation by July 31, 2009, in order for us to be able to include you in our brochure. If you have a logo you would like us to use to help promote your business in our brochure, you can send it via email to fpsctn@yahoo.com. We can accept .JPG files for logos only. If you have any questions, please feel free to call the Center at 931-484-7416 and ask for Carolyn.
